Warner Brothers Offers DVD to Blu-ray Upgrade

June 28, 2010 By Doogie - Copyright - All Rights Reserved

We found a program offered by Warner Brothers Studios that will upgrade standard Warner Brothers movies on DVD to their Blu-ray versions at a minimal cost.

This upgrade program has been around for a while, but has not been publicized very well. It appears to have been originally initiated to allow purchasers of now defunct HD-DVD movies to upgrade to the Blu-ray versions of movies. Today it looks like it strictly allows upgrades from DVD to Blu-ray.

You can find the details at the DVD 2 Blu web site. At the time of this writing, it looks like you can send the original DVD disk from about 91 different movies to Warner Brothers and they will replace it with the same movie title on Blu-ray for an fee of $4.95 per movie. The site says that orders over $35 will ship for free. The shipping charge for orders under $35 is $4.95. If you have a number of upgradable movies in your movie library it would probably be worthwhile to upgrade to Blu-ray.

We don’t know how long this program will last, so it might be a good idea to check it out ASAP.
