Guidelines

We try to cover the important issues and do respond to many of the questions submitted to Tech-Evangelist.com by replying to questions lefts on the posts. We also welcome answers from anyone else who wants to assist with someone’s problem or issue. However, due to the number of questions we receive each day, we must select those that can be answered without spending excessive amount of time doing research. Here are some guidelines for getting your questions and responses posted.

  1. Stay on topic with your questions. If an article that we post focuses on the FileZilla FTP utility, do not submit questions about other FTP utilities. We cannot cover every software package out there. It is too overwhelming. We do not cover games, so please do not ask us how to hook up your gaming console to your home theater.
  2. This is a blog, not a forum. Please do not submit 1000 word diatribes challenging a comment made by someone. The intention of this blog is to help people with problems, not to debate politics or to get into deep discussions about semantics.
  3. Please read the article and the comments before asking a question. The majority of the questions submitted have already been answered on the page.
  4. Please do not submit vague requests or questions, such as “Thunderbird does not send e-mails. Please help.”
  5. We do not contact people to deal with their issues. Each of us has a technology-related job and each runs multiple web sites, which means our available time is limited. If we can answer your question online in a way that will benefit you as well as others, we will be happy to do so.
  6. Please do not post large blocks of code and ask us to de-bug them for you. That is something that you should be posting in a PHP or JavaScript forum frequented by large numbers of experienced programmers. We have the experience, but do not have the time to spend doing debugging work.
  7. Feel free to help answer people’s questions. We offer an answer based upon our experience and perspective, but your answer based upon your experience may be better.
  8. Please do not ask us to link to your web site. We do not sell links, but we may offer an advertising program in the future.

Thanks for participating with Tech-Evangelist.com. We hope that what you learn here will resolve your technical issues. 🙂

FYI. We were recently hit hard by a Chinese spam comment attack that required us to close the comment sections for most of our posts. The comment section for recent posts is still open, but we could be forced to close that if we get hit again.
