Thanks, Doogie. So I suppose the only thing left for me to do is to get hold of Earthlink and find out if they are somehow blocking that particular IP address?

Hi Charlotte

Actually, Thunderbird does not automatically block any e-mail. Mail could be blocked by your ISP or your anti-virus tool before it reaches Thunderbird. Some ISPs automatically filter out e-mail from specific IP addresses that are on block lists. If you do not see the messages using your webmail access, then the problems is likely your ISP. Thunderbird has nothing to do with blocking e-mail on your ISP's webmail system.

Thunderbird's spam and junk mail filters can snag e-mail, but those would typically be placed in either a Trash folder or a Junk folder where you could find them.

I use several ISPs. There are some people whose e-mail gets filtered out by AT&T and I have never found those e-mails in the AT&T spam filters. AT&T does not let me know that those messages were deleted.

I am having a problem with receiving email from only ONE email address. It was working fine until about a couple weeks ago, and I received regular, daily email from this person. All of a sudden they stopped coming, and I had another friend of mine check that he was receiving email from the same person. He receives it fine. I even checked my webmail to insure there were no blocks put in against that address there. There are none. Then I checked that the person could send to my Gmail address. No problem. It came thru Gmail just fine. I am not missing emails from anyone else to my knowledge. The server for that address is @socal.rr.com Are there known issues with Thunderbird and this particular server in California?

Thanks for helping us to figure this one out.

We have the same problem.

We get a new webhosting last friday March 20th, and suddenly, we began to have problems with the IP of the MAIL SERVER, being blocking.

We have about 20 machines, some of them using THUNDERBIRD, but only 1 was the culprit.

It's very extrange: The account is making a download every 5 minutes, and it do it good!!!!

We don't know why with the old HOSTING never have problems in the last 4 weeks (this machine is a new one)

We disabled the automatic download and the problem disapear, but we need to enable it again.

We think this is a BUG in THUNDERBIRD. Any other sugestion?

The version is 2.0..0.21 (20090302)

Best regards,

Salvador.

That should not be happening. If you are sure that you have all of the automatic download features unchecked for each of your accounts, then there is something wrong with your Thunderbird installation or there is a configuration issue somewhere.

Check out the following page to see if you see anything useful.

I have the opposite problem. All boxes for automatic email are unchecked. My selection is as shown in your example, only "empty trash" is checked. While Thunderbird is open it will download automatically any email that comes in. I have several gmail address and a POP address and this happens on all of them and all of them are unchecked as above. I have missed emails as I did not realize this was happening and emails download after I have checked the specific address. How do I stop this?
