Hi RL

I have to stand by my statement. Sure, everyone is concerned, but most people are just waiting for someone else to do something about it. There is a big difference between being concerned about something and being motivated to do something about it. There is a clear lack of motivation for people to take personal action or prod our politicians into doing something other than digging a deeper hole for everyone.

Most of the current alternatives being discussed offer no real solutions or just create a different set of problems. Have you looked at the rising cost of food in the USA? This is primarily a result of focusing farmers on biofuels and ethanol production, which is reducing the available supply of corn and other food stocks. Throwing money at the farmers is not the solution. The dirty little secret is that ethanol fuels result in greater levels of pollution, consume large amounts of energy in the production process and are much less efficient than gasoline or diesel.

I agree that we need options. What options are you offering and what type of car do you drive? :) Fuel cell and hybrid vehicles are available.

I travel a lot, and love to bring up the Green Topic.  I can't disagree more, re:  {{{The largest problem appears to be the lack of motivation on the part of the American public.}}}

I don't ever meet ONE person that is not concerned about this subject. But what options do we/I have as an American, that has got to drive to work, drive to get food, etc. etc. NO ONE wants to pay $4.00+ (which looks like it’s coming soon) for a gallon of Gas. This Comment may have been true when Gas was $1.20(ish) a gallon, (10 yrs ago), but not now... Everyone is greatly concerned about the Polar Caps Melting. Give me a Car that runs on H, or Electricity, or any alternative Fuel, that would reduce, ( or eliminate) our dependency of Middle East Fuel and I'm there... but without Options, a bicycle is just not an option for Vacation; or buying a New Fridge, or delivering Bunk Beds for the Kids, ( you get the picture )...

We the American Public, (along with most of the civilized world) are ready to Move the MEGA money to the Farmers, away from the Big 7...

We need Options... we need them NOW…

You can’t say we’re not concerned, when there are no options…
I think we ALL get the picture...

I completely agree that we need to overcome the primarily political concerns about nuclear energy. From my perspective, we desperately need to move away from dependence on Middle East oil, but we will never get there unless we find politicians and power companies that are willing to make the tough decisions required to get us there. Nuclear power is one way to help get us where we need to be.

I thought you had a short, but insightful look on different "green" fuels. I would like to point out that both with the use of H+ fuel cells and electric cars, many of the cons can be overcome with the use of nuclear power. Granted a huge increase in the number of nuclear power plants in this country would be needed (currently only ~104 reactors for ~20% of electrical production). Nuclear power of course has it's own sets of pros and cons, but I think that the pros out way the cons, especially if this country would move away from a once through fuel cycle.

Magnetic energy has not been mentioned. someone will come up with a magnetic engine sooner or later. think about it. Magnetic energy is free energy from the universe. the more you think about it,the more obvious it becomes. what powers u.f.o's ? it's all about
magnetism. i can't give you any more information but rest assured that those on the other side of the veil are working hard to transmit the necessary information to selected people on this side.
i happen to believe that every invention is first perfected over there before it appears over here. let your minds stretch and allow your capacity for belief to embrace this ongoing fact of life.
best regards,        doug rosbury
